Born in South Africa, raised in Australia and spending the last decade living and working across multiple continents as a designer. His art draws on South African heritage, surrounded by art, textiles and pattern making from the region. This tribal style has been adapted by a learned gestalt of Swiss & Dutch graphic art and typography.

I find beauty in bold contrasting elements, specifically black and white geometric shapes that are reduced to a minimal state, inviting the viewer to interpret alternate forms and compositions without the use of colour.

Thorne has developed a process that comes from a desire to break the structure and attention to detail needed in his work as a Graphic Designer. Pushing back learned behaviors and over analysis of planned outcomes. Replacing them with flowing shapes and unplanned balance between objects and backgrounds.
